Quick Base Sync
Opportunity: Help users streamline their business process by bringing external data into Quick Base automatically. Users often voiced concern over manual data entry in the Quick Base platform. It was time consuming and prone to human error.
Solution: Instead of users having to manually enter or import data, we created a solution that did the work for them. The solution automatically connects users with external applications in just a few clicks.
Timeline: 9 months.
Role: Visual and interaction design conceptualization to finished design.
Biggest challenges: Due to technical constraints the entire workflow for connecting to an external data source had to live within a light box. As a team we also had to design for many unknowns. There is no way for the system to know which fields would be available to connect to or which fields would be available for connection. In addition, we had limited engineering hours and no front-end developer so we had to sacrifice on a smooth drag and drop experience.

Connect to an external app, service, or folder containing CSV files. Drag and drop functionality is used to connect the fields users want.

Albeit a clunky implementation, drag and drop functionality allows users to select only the necessary fields from their data source to be imported and synced.

The user has the ability to control when the data added to Quick Base gets updated: weekly, daily or hourly. The automation process eliminates human errors and ensures the app is always up to date.
